Peace and Development researchers Association (PADRA) is registered under the Registrar of Societies in Kenya and was birthed out of the African University Seminar Series- Kenya (AUSS- K) in 2023 which was started by the Social Science Research Council’s (SSRC) Africa Peacebuilding Network (APN) and Next Gen program within the framework of self-organized seminars.
The Peace and Development Researchers Association (PADRA) brings together Africa Peacebuilding Network and The Next Generation Social Sciences in Africa (APN/NextGen) grantees of Kenyan origin to engage in an interactive dialogue on security, peacebuilding and development in Africa generally and Kenya in particular. PADRA aims to spur stimulating and insightful intellectual discourse among Kenyan scholars and practitioners and to develop research expertise capable of contributing to and shaping national, regional, and global scholarly discourses and practices.
Our Objectives
- Building solidarity among researchers and shaping scholarly debates to inform policy and practice
- Bringing together researchers from different disciplines for annual conferences and seminars to discuss peace, development and related issues
- Curate spaces of engagement and networking including organizing international conferences and workshops on various social, economic, political, peace and development issues
- Conducting and publishing high quality research on peace, development and related issues
- Creating and fostering networking and mentorship opportunities
