The Peace and Development Researchers Association (PADRA) in collaboration with SSRC invites interested early career/ mid career PADRA members to submit draft manuscripts of 3000-4000 words or final drafts of 6000-8000 words to attend a one day in person authors capacity building workshop. The manuscripts will be published in an edited book volume in 2026 and/or a special journal issue.
The workshop facilitators will comprise of journal editors and policy experts who will take participants through the key steps in the publication process focusing on: how to publish in high impact journals and edited book volumes by leading publishers, framing of research questions, building scientifically sound arguments and ensuring originality, how to identify a suitable journal, the peer review process, handling rejection from peer reviewers and how to address and respond to reviewer feedback, how to translate research to policy briefs among others.
Participants from outside Nairobi will be offered a per diem and accommodation if need be.
All participants will get a modest transport refund and participant certificates.
